These systems have small rotating mashers on a flat plate and teeth on the inner disposal wall to do the grinding job of the food waste. When you switch on the disposal system the motor inside powers the mashers to rotate and cut the waste into small bits. The disposal system generally runs for few seconds less than 30 seconds at max. During this time it makes sure than the food is flushed into the ground of the sanitation tank. Once the job is done, task of the homeowner is to run a stream of cold water through the disposal. This keeps the system in good condition.

Types of garbage disposal systems

There are mainly three types of disposal systems, continuous feed, batch-feed and dishwasher disposals. In the continuous feed systems the food is placed and the system is switched on. The mashers force the food against the inner wall containing teeth and shred it. The food shredded then falls on the spinning plate and is diverted to the drainpipe.
